They make terrific fire starters. You can cut them in half if you have dry wood or use an entire one or more for the wet stuff. They burn strongly for about 5 minutes (roughly) and that's plenty of time to get a fire going. Very good for starting a fire in a windy/conditions.I've used these for over 10 years. Rock solid purchase.  Best solid fuel tablet, This review is from: Esbit Solid Fuel (12 Pieces x14-Grams) (Sports) We tested these tablets in the eastern Sierras at an altitude of 9800 feet. They were at least a year old and boiled 16 ounces of water in a Stanley Adventure Camp Cook Set. It worked well with little residue.
