Zippo Fuel Canister Reviews

It has a vent hole that you need to orient up when pouring, so that the fuel leaves the canister in a smooth fashion - it pours well! (The vent hole is covered by the cap seal when the cap is in place)The only problem that I had was with the ring that attaches the pocket clip/key ring and flint storage device to the canister. The ring opened and the flint holder came off and was almost lost. (That is why this item was not rated a 5). I replaced the Zippo supplied ring with a split ring of a similar diameter (split rings never come loose - some hardware stores sell these in a variety of sizes) This addition cost me 15 cents and now I have a product that is a "5". Too bad Zippo didn't do this to begin with. (Interestingly, the ring supplied for your keys is a split ring!) One other note, if you have a greasy... The naphta based fuel light fluid evaporates pretty fast and i am usualy stuck with a dead zippo, but no more! It is basically a ultra space saving zippo servicing station.Pros: All aluminum design is very sturdy double rubber gaskets seal the canister so no fuel evaporates has a flint screw tab that you can use to unscrew the flint screw, plus a flint holder very portable (i attach it with my keys) Cons: the jump ring connecting everything together, the canister, flint holder, split ring, can be pulled apart over time, i replaced with a 10mm split ring Aluminum is soft, scratches a bit easy the flint holder is kinda flimsy, but it shouldnt be a problem the zippo logo rubs off, but that isnt too much of a bother Overall, a product that should be on the must have list of zippo owners. 27 of 35 people found the following review helpful Well intended, but poorly constructed., By Matthew (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews I got one of these and noticed, after a short time of using it as a keychain, that it slowly leaks. I sent it back to Zippo and they replaced it for free, which is very cool of them, but the replacement they sent me has the same problem. Now I'm starting to think this problem is not specific to one canister. So, if it didn't leak, it would be great. Since it leaks, I can't really use it for what I'm supposed to be able to use it for. I have to carry it upright all the time and I can't put it in my pocket, since I don't want my leg to catch on fire if I happen to be near an open flame. Also, the "flint sleeve" on this thing is useless. You can put your flint into it, but it's very difficult to get it back out. |
