Redfield, Gray, Marcy, Skylight and Cliff. 4' Snow drifts still on trails. 6hr hike took 9hrs. Exhausted. No Redfield first day. MSR Dragonfly Stove works great. Original version w/ original pump. Dinner, Scotch, bed. Next morning evaluate trail to Gray & Mt. Marcy. NO GO. Crossing stream out of question. Too wide with still melting snow. Still 4' drifts up main trail. Decide to hike Redfield and perhaps Cliff. Ready to eat breakfast. STOVE BROKEN!!!!!!!!! The old pump had cracked around the plunger coupling. Would not keep preasure. No stove, no eat, no hike. TRIP OVER.I swore I would never take this stove into the wilderness ever again. Someone bought me an Amazon gift card and I decided to buy the new pump just to see if it was superior to the last. It was very cold, and the stove's fuel tube froze to the pump fitting, and completely cracked when I tried to remove it - basically rendering the pump useless.This newly designed pump is fantasitc. It's first trip was also in the winter, but even colder. Morning temps were zero degrees, in the sun! This pump (& stove) worked flawlessly. The material is better. The engineering is better. The overall performance is better. It's even more 'field' serviceable than the previous unit. 5 stars indeed. But now that the pump is new and built out of completly different plastic , fiberglass and some sort of polimer combo they are very dependable and will last along time .The pump on mine has had alot of heavy use and is still going strong !!!!!!! What people cant wrap there head around is the fact that they are comparing the new to the old style pumps!I have found that no camping stove is without problems in the past or now. No stove is a wonder stove without some sort of litle quirk ! People will always swear by one type of stove or another but as for me I can say that I own many different brands of stoves . And they all have good points and bad ones I find that people that say any type of stove or stove part that breaks is due to product failure and poor design.
