The stove folds up nicely, the thin sheet metal seems weak, but just dont throw it around and it will be fine.The solid fuel tablets seem a little difficult to light. Maybe I was doing something wrong? I dont know, but I had to hold a lighter to the tablet for around 1 minute to get it to burn. Once the fuel tablet was burning, it lasted for about 10 minutes. Which was plenty of time to boil some water and cook one pack of noodles. If you are looking for an inexpensive folding stove - sure why not. If you can afford a liquid fuel stove, you might want to go that route. The solid fuel tablet put off a chemical smell. I do not know if the fumes from the burning fuel can get into your food. But I would not want to eat off of this thing on a regular basis. Overall, it would be fine for a lightwieght camping hiking trip. I ordered this instead of the esbit stove I figured they were the same. Well the fuel tabs are different and they were ALL cracked and damaged and it was a mess. Some of the pieces broke into larger ones so they may still work. Luckily I ordered extra esbit fuel tabs or I'd be in trouble. The stove itself is just like the picture but needed a little WD40 to get it to move easier. It seems to me this was sitting around somewhere a long time to have the tabs cracked and brittle and the stove needing WD40. Spend the extra bucks and buy the Esbit stove the tabs come individually wrapped and that will make up for the extra in pricing.One thing the picture seems to show is two rods crossing the stove; no rods come with this stove but it is is a good idea if your cook cup is real small. I purchased this for my emergency kit. It's small, lightweight and easy to use. It comes with several fuel tablets (mine were broken, but usable). However, it's just thin stamped steel with some sharp edges. I wouldn't recommend this for anything but emergency use. There are much better ones availabe for higher prices, but this is great for the price and intended emergency use. Remember to buy waterproof buy matches and a mess kit for your emergency kit.. Otherwise you'll have a stove and nothing to cook your meals in! |
