I was looking for a wind screen for the side burner on my BBQ grill for a while. I decided that I was going to have to make one because I could find what I wanted. Then by change I came accross this one. It's axactly what I need to block the wind on my side burner. It fold up nice and small (like a sun shade you use for the windshield on your car) and fits into the included hard plastic storge case too. This is what I would call a luxurious windscreen. It is made of heavy gauge stamped sheet metal. It weighs twice as much as a basic homemade windscreen like I normally use, but the extra bulk comes with substantial benefit. This thing stays put!! No worries about the windscreen being blown away in strong wind or tipping over if you bump it with your pot. The prongs that extend from each end stake it into the ground to prevent such mishaps. The hinges are reasonably strong piano style and the storage case is rigid plastic with a shock cord "keeper" to keep the windscreen from sliding out. Overkill? Maybe for some trips, but in foul weather I will be glad to have it! Con: Could use additional stake in center to stop middle panels flapping inward in higher gusts. Took a million stupid minutes to boil some water last trip because of wind problems. With this, I shall triumph! |
