I bought this pump for an outdoor aquaponics setup. It's used to keep the fish oxygenated during the night when the main water pumps are shut down. Since this is an off grid application I use 12v battery bank to run the pumps and the aerator. This aerator keeps the 250 gallon tank oxygenated.I was very surprised to find that the pump only draws about 1/4 of an amp at 12 volts. This is really good power usage and great for saving your batteries even during extended use. I run this pump about 12 hours a day without any problems. I am not sure how well it oxygenates the water however because I don't have an oxygen meter to measure it. |
