GSI Outdoors Pinnacle Soloist Reviews
22 of 22 people found the following review helpful Nice cookset for hikers!, By This review is from: GSI Outdoors Pinnacle Soloist (Sports) The Soloist is a thoughtfully engineered cookset that can host a gas canister together with a select brand or two of stove heads. The cookset includes a pot w/insulated handles, compressible spork, mug w/cozy cover, plastic, vented lid that doubles as a sip cup cover for the mug, and a stuff sack that doubles as a small water bucket or wash up basin.I use this cookset with a 110gm gas canister and an Optimus Crux, which folds and stores underneath the canister (the stove comes with a little pouch designed to strap under a gas canister). The canister is then placed into the bottom of the Soloist pot with the valve facing up. Next, a spork and lighter and possibly packets of coffee or tea are placed around the top of the canister. I recommend using it with the Brunton Raptor, as the entire stove and a 4oz canister pack right inside the Soloist. The only thing I didn't like about the set was the plastic 'spork'. Its handle slides down, making the whole thing shorter, but its actually hard to do without pinching your fingers or poking yourself - and overall, its not a very good spoon or fork. I recommend tossing it and getting something metal. One piece of advice, be sure to *pinch* the handle together when folding it open or closed - my wife almost broke ours within 5 minutes of owning it, trying to pry it open. The design locks the handle in place over the lid, which keeps it from coming open when packed. 7 of 8 people found the following review helpful Great Little Set, By This review is from: GSI Outdoors Pinnacle Soloist (Sports) I think that the size of this set is perfectfor me. Heats water quick, especially with a wind screen; but I can also cook in the pot. I agree that the included foon is flimsy, but I keep it in the pack as a spare. All told, I'm very pleased. |
