I like things simple. I like them easy to use. I like them to work. Turns out I like this stove in a can. We had an overnight trip with the scouts, and it rained. Completely poured. No surprise, the boys were having trouble getting their fires started, and everyone was hungry. So maybe wasn't as rugged as flint and steel, but no one complained once we were eating our Cup-a-Noodles a few minutes later. Also, I like that the fuel is solid. Just one or two cells are enough for a trip, so it keeps it light. Also it doesn't slosh or risk a spill. (Think Sterno.) And inside the can, it stayed nice and dry. Recommended. I am only an occasional camper, but I do have quite a bit of FOOD STORAGE in my basement. I recently realized, that if I need to use the food in an emergency, and without a power source, I have no options for boiling water or even simply warming the food! So, just in case, I am preparing myself literally and figuratively to weather any storm by ordering a few of these price-effective stoves to place alongside my soup, spaghetti and stroganoff. This gives me peace of mind. I have been slowly putting together a 7-day emergency kit and had decided to go with MRE style meals or freeze dried. I decided on freeze dried but then needed a way to heat water. Did not want to get a full-on stove so I ordered 2 units of Stove in a Can and am loving it. Did a test as soon as I got the unit and it works just as advertised.
