5.0 out of 5 stars You Wont Regret Having This Stove, December 11, 2010
This review is from: Primus Omni-Fuel Stove (Misc.)
This stove rocks! I have several multi-fuel stoves but not one that would accept a cartridge. That alone should tempt people to really consider this unit. I figure I will have a reliable stove in any part of the world now.

The stove light nicely the first time I played with it. I used Coleman gas and switched to a canister/cartridge. Neither one was difficult to light, in fact I like the white gas better.

A few tips:

Turn the heat spreader so all three tabs are secured by the brass cup. Disconnect the ring if you need to. My flame spreader popped off as soon as it started to glow, right at the brass cup notch. The notch is there to re connect the spreader. Clip the other two sides first, then the notch side...then spin the spreader about 45Degrees.

For a better simmer, let some of the pressure out of the fuel bottle. or, don't pump it up as much as you would normally. I found that the simmer control works great, but when there is a lot of... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Well-made and works!, June 15, 2010
This review is from: Primus Omni-Fuel Stove (Misc.)
I've been using my Omnifuel stove since summer of '04 without any issues. It boils 1L of water in 90 seconds with white gas. It runs on anything, but is a little sooty on startup with kero. My only beef is the primer pad eventually crumbled, so I replaced it with a wad of stainless steel wool. I like the solid construction, especially the metal pump (versus the crappy plastic pump that disintegrates on my friend's MSR Whisperlite in Labrador). This is my go-to stove for big trips on my motorcycle to remote areas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Stove, September 11, 2011
This review is from: Primus Omni-Fuel Stove (Misc.)
I have read some disappointing reviews for this stove. Most, if not all, are well covered in the instruction manual. A little reading and common sense will help a lot. Know your stove before you go. There is a slight learning curve to effective, efficient, and safe operation.

If you use automotive fuels this stove WILL require frequent cleaning due to the additives and impurities. This is thoroughly covered in the manual. Check the flow control valve frequently.

I recently packed this stove for a week in the wilderness. It was running "white gas" and subjected to packing, dropping, dust, rain, spills, and general neglect. To my chagrin, when I "disassembled" the stove for maintenance non was required. Nothing stopped it from functioning. I packed a small ISO can JIC and never needed it. Even wet, this stove lights. A week of cooking and I did not burn my full 750ml bottle.

I see no reason to use anything else. This will be my go to stove for any trip... Read more
