I own a few zippos, and have handled a few dozen, but this one is my favorite.The weight of the all metal design (vs the matte picture designs) makes this zippo the best for flipping open/closed. It is smooth for tricks, and always makes a crisp opening noise. Despite abuse the top still lines up perfectly, whereas my matte zippo doesn't feel as rugged. The matte zippo's I've used all feel flimsier, don't flip as well, don't sound as crisp, and have repeated issues with the lid bending a bit. The biggest caveat is that is gets lots of finger prints and scratches easily, but they just add character. If the finger prints and scratches would bother you a lot get something less shiny. I read some people experiencing the lighter inside sliding up a bit (this make sit harder to open/close). I have this issue on my matte lighters, but I haven't seen it happen often on any of the full metal ones. I'm sure it can, it just doesn't... It'll work using all sorts of flamable solvents in an extreme situation if the recommended lighter fluid is unavailable. Replacement parts can be found cheap all over the planet. If I'm in a hurricane, I have lots of other things that need to get done quickly rather than stand there tring to light up a cigarette (don't smoke anyway). And a campsite or stove is going to be sheltered anyway. When that high tech lighter won't work or breaks, this one will just keep making fire. |
